The time before dawn.

"I've always liked the time before dawn because there is no one around to remind me who I'm supposed to be,
so it is easier to remember who I am."

Who are you, really?

 Who are you, really?
You are not a name
or a height, or a weight
or a gender
You are not an age
and you are not where you
are from.

You are your favourite books
and the songs stuck in your head
You are your thoughts
and what you eat for breakfast
on Saturday mornings.

You are a thousand things
but everyone chooses
to see the million things
you are not.

You are not
where you are from
You are
where you're going
and i'd like
to go there
too.

Breezes of the sky.

There is a freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?

Never be this way.

"You get a strange feeling when you leave a place, like you'll not only miss the people you love, but you miss the person you are at this time and place because you'll never be this way ever again."
- Azar Nafasi

In one minute.

11:59am
in one minute, or
sixty seconds, or
sixty thousand milliseconds,
today will be gone
and today will become yesterday and
tomorrow will be today.
it's kind of terrifying when you think
about it.
terrifying in the way that everything
you did today - all the
lists you've made,
places you've been,
things you've touched,
songs you've heard,
conversations you've had - will
soon become a memory,
or worse, it will be forgotten.
lost amidst all of your yesterdays.
gone.
12:00am
today.

Bookworm Series: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

What to say about Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?...

To start off, you need to read this book!
It's pinch of seriously with a side of awesome!
It is a quick read but that is because you will never want to put it down. Every chance I had, I picked up this book. Mindy has such a way with describing her life happenings that I felt like she was sitting in front of me telling her stories! I think it helps a lot that I have been an avid watcher of The Mindy Project and I have watched The Office (American version) a couple of times, and this allowed me to hear her voice (sorry if that sounds creepy!).
This has definitely been my favourite read so far this year and I will definitely be picking it up again before her new book, Why Not Me?, comes out in the fall!

I hope you all are having or had a wonderful Monday and let me know if you have read this book and what you thought of it!

"..Will this help me seem like a cool, understanding dad?"
"Honestly, I think you should buy her some kind of SUV. This is what all the divorced dads did for their kids in my high school. A Land Rover, something like that. If you don't have that kind of money, I would just suggest reconciling with the mom."

- Mindy Kaling, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, pg. 5

The rebel in you.

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes.. the ones who see things differently - they're not fond of rules.. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things.. they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do."

- Steve Jobs.

(I did not do this, because I am too chicken to, but I am thankful for the rebel who did!)

Your Beauty.

I'll plant a row of daisy seeds,
In the space below each eye,
So they'll remind you of your beauty,
When they bloom each time you cry.

Community.

"A community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other's lives. It is the knowledge that people have of each other , their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves."

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Sunday, and Happy Mother's Day, friends!

I am not a mom but I love Mother's Day! You get to see how much each Mother out there is loved by their family. Being showered with gifts, dinner, hugs, and sharing laughs with all of those they have influenced and love. It such a beautiful thing!

Most people say they are the luckiest person to have a mom like theirs or they have the best mom in the world.. well, I am the luckiest girl in the world and I do have the best moms in the world!
Rebecca (my mom) and Carolyn (my mother-in-law) are the biggest inspirations in my life and I would not be the woman I am today without both of them. They mean the world to me and sadly I do not get to spend today with or near either of them but I am sending them all of my love and well wishes!

Both photos are by my incredibly talented sister-in-law, Jess MacDonald!
If you want to see more of her work, you can check out her blog: jessbphotoblog, or her Facebook page: jessbphoto !

From a place to a person.

 Happy Sunday, Friends!
I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend as much as we are!
Today is a little bittersweet because tomorrow Mark leaves for the field for a month and a half.. but it could be worse and before both of us know it, he will be right back on the couch with me watching Game of Thrones. :)

Ps. Sorry for being a sap, I just love this guy so much! :)

Painting with Light.

Happy Friday, C-Goers!
It's May 1st, can you believe it?! I am sad but also happy to see April pass by because that just means we are one month closer to summer now!
Yesterday was the first day of my second Photography course and I thought since I am taking some snaps in the class, why not share them with all of you!
Last night we learned how to "paint with light" which was actually pretty cool. I was pretty amazed at how much you can do with light.
So, here are just a few of my favourite shots from last night :)

For these three photos, my photography teachers ran a flashlight along the guitar and boot.

For these two photos the cameras settings were: ISO - 400
Shutter - 30sec
F8

Settings for the boot were:
ISO - 400
Shutter - 30sec.
F6.3
(This is actually my boot!)
